Word Magic Academy is a playful, multi-page English word-learning system I built for Rainbow — a young learner. Every screen is designed to make vocabulary practice feel like a game rather than a drill.
Modes
Four ways to practise the same words, so a child can move between them as the mood strikes:
- Browse — flip through words with their meanings at a comfortable pace
- Flashcards — quick review with instant feedback
- Quiz — test and track mastery
- Spelling — type the word, learning to spell as well as recognise
Journeys
The vocabulary is organised into themed journeys — dedicated learning journeys, months, travel, and everyday vocabulary — each with its own illustrated pages and AI-generated study posters that give every word a memorable visual home.
Tech
Zero-dependency HTML/CSS/JS with a shared word bank (words.json) and a bright,
kid-friendly palette — pastel cards, animated floating orbs, and a rounded,
playful typeface. It runs entirely in the browser from static files.
